Testing of Prototype

Following the the creation of our prototype, we set out to test the efficiency of our prototype by purchasing some of the coconut shreds ourselves. The problem we encountered was that the prototype was not efficient as it did not fully squeeze out the coconut milk from the coconut shreds. Modifications were further made and tested again before our final prototype was constructed by 16th June

Skeletal structure of prototype

The skeletal structure of the prototype was made when we met up once again on the 9th of June. We started creating the parts of the prototype by modifying the materials bought, attaching add-ons. The parts of the prototype were completed by the next day and was ready to be tested.

Gathering of the materials

We met up in the June holidays,3rd June at one of our member's house. Gathering the materials proved to be a problem but very soon we had the materials bought by different members of our group, based on how convenient it was for them to gather the items. The items were ready by 4th June for the construction of the prototype

Brainstormming for an idea

Afted we decided on doing the inventions category, we began finding some inconvieniences in our everyday life, and we came up with a few.

1. Cleaning the ceiling
We discovered that many housewifes and cleaners have to climb onto ladders and chairs and use a cloth to wipe the ceiling with a cloth, and having to lift their heads all the time, which proved to be tiring.

2. Squeezing fresh coconut milk
After conducting a survey at a wet market and a few malay stores, 87% have said that squeezing fresh coconut milk is a messy and "painful" proccess. The other 13% said that they would rather but packed coconut milk off the shelves.

3. Sweaty Palms
After researching, we have also found out that sweaty palms is also a major problem to many people. For example, when some have to meet VIPs for business deals, some get nervous and their palms get sweaty. Whehn the VIP arrives, the handshake will not be very pleasant.

4. High Heels
Ladies tend to prefer high heels, because high heels looks much better than normal shoes. However, high heels can pose serious problems to the wearer's feet.

After comming our with these ideas, we decided to call it a day, and come up with an invention to solve these problems another day.

Distribution of work

As you know, our group consists of only three members so we actually have a shortage of manpower compared to other groups but no worries, with teamwork we can accomplish everything! What we had to do were the powerpoint and the blog. The powerpoint was finished within three days, where we helped each other to check for mistakes and helped to improve on the slides whereas for the blog, we took down all of our thoughts and compiled them together before posting it onto the blog.

Meeting our mentor

Having thought of the idea, the only thing left to do is to consult our mentor right? Well, after meeting him and getting his opinions of our idea, we set out to think of the right materials to use for our idea and how to improve on it. Naturally, this gave us a splitting headache and we discussed for long hours over this matter.... this was a good headstart !!

Which idea should we use?

Well, project's competition is just around the corner and we were still pondering between ideas but finally, we picked what seemed like the most feasible idea, The Coconut Milk Extractor.
